AUSTRALIA AND N.Z.
Since the coming into operation in September last of the Age Benefits and Invalids' Benefits (Reciprocity with Australia) Act, 1943, 48 reciprocal age benefits and 18 reciprocal invalids' benefits have been granted to qualified Australians resident in the Dominion. The Minister of Social Security (Mr. Parry) stated today that the number of applications lodged totalled 77, but some had had to be declined because the residential and other qualifications under, the Act had not been met. The annual: value *of the benefits approximated £ 4250. ' Cases of New Zealanders resident in Australia had been similarly and satisfactorily dealt with under the Act, said the Minister. It was, however, too early for the people of the two countries to feel the full effect of the legislation. ~ ~ .
