NAZI FIFTH COLUMN
ACTIVITY IN ARGENTINA
NEW YORK, January 19. . From behind the wall of censorship which for months has beclouded developments in Argentina comes a warning that Hitler is preparing Argentina as a haven for himself, says the "New York World-Telegram" in a front-page story It says it learns that the State Department has received advice from sources inside Argentina giving this information, plus assertions that theNazis engineered the coup last June which placed the Ramirez Government in power, and that they are lining up the semi-dictatorial States in South America, against the United States All of this forms the basis of a lengthy report which states that by winning the battle of Argentina nrst the Nazis have attacked the Western Hemisphere on the ideological front at its weakest point. The report declares that Argentina has become a haven for Axis capital, and that Nazi leaders are known to have sizable fortunes tucked away there. The Secretary of State, Mr. Cordell Hull, told his Press 'conference today that this and other reports of pro-Axis activities in the Western Hemisphere will be dealt with when the question of recognition of the Bolivian Government is decided.
