CRICKET CONTROL

A decision to conclude the senior championship on the same lines as at present by playing another complete round of one-day matches was reached last night at a meeting of the management committee of the Wellington [ Cricket Association over which Mr. J. |D. Howitt presided. It was decided to advise clubs that no adjournment during the afternoon must occupy more than ten minutes. The Auckland Association's suggestion that the dates for the match with Wellington at Auckland should be February 25, 26, and 28, was agreed to, and Canterbury is to be asked to play at Wellington on March 10, 11, and 14. Cricketers will join with footballers, amateur athletes, and others in expressing appreciation of the services of Mr. A. ("Budge") Brewer, custodian of the Basin Reserve, who is to retire in April, and it was decided to play a match as a benefit for Mr. Brewer, possibly between the senior champions and a colts XI. The charge for admission to the Basin Reserve next Saturday will be raised to Is to meet the extra cost of gatekeepers, who will receive double pay for the holiday.
