RAILROAD DISPUTE

SETTLED IN AMERICA Rec. 12.30 p.m. WASHINGTON, Jan. 18. President Roosevelt has announced the settlement of the railroad wage dispute. Non-operating workers will receive an increase of from 9 to 11 cents an hour. Mr. Roosevelt said he would authorise the Secretary of War, Mr. H. L. Stimson, immediately to relinquish army control of the railroads. The settlement provides that nonoperating erry*oyees receiving less than 47 cents an hour will receive an increase of 11 cents; those receiving from 47 to 57 cents will receive ten cents more; all others will be increased by nine cents.
