NEW AUSTRALIAN LOAN

Rec. 12.45 p.m. CANBERRA, Jan. 18. A new Commonwealth loan of £ 150,000,000 will be launched on March 28 and will close on September 5. It will be called the First Victory Loan, and will be the tenth loan since the outbreak of war. The .interest will be 2£ per cent, on stock maturing in 1949 and 3J per cent, on stock maturing in 1960. "This new loan," said Mr. Curtin, "will bring the total war borrowings from the public in this financial year to £278,000,000, and will bring the total of war loans since the war began to just over £700,000,000."
