TRAMWAY BAND CARNIVAL

Mr. Vincent Ward, M.L.C., in opening the Tramway Band Beach Carnival at_ Evans Bay on Saturday evening, said that the carnival would be running during the next fortnight, closing on January 29. Mr. Ward said that the Wellington Metropolitan Patriotic Committee appreciated the generous offer of the Tramway Band in offering half the net proceeds to . the Wellington Patriotic Fund, and he hoped that the SybllSr w<? uld support the carnival. The Wellington Tramway Band committee and its 'organiser (Mi-. Ted O'Brien) had asked him specially to thank the Wellington Harbour Board for its generosity, not only this year, but m past years in making the land at Evans Bay available for their yearly carnivals.
