Electrolytic Zinc Co, of Australasia, Ltd., shows net profit of £292,765 for the year ended June 30. This compares with £303,916 for 1941-42 (reduced to £216,416 by £87,500 taxation short-provided for 1940-41, making total provision £299,500). Unchanged dividends of 9 per cent, require £270,000.
Gordon and Gotch (Australasia), Ltd., profit of £49,338 for the half-year ended September 30 compares with £39,652 for the previous half-year, making a total of £88,990 for the year, against £74,865 for 1941-42. Preference dividend of 8 per cent, requires £8000, and ordinary dividend raised from 12 per cent, to 15 per cent, (including 3 per cent bonus) requires £75,000. and £40,000 is transferred to contingencies reserve.
North Broken Hill, Ltd., shows net profit of £234,756 for the year ended June 30, compared with £422,148 for 1941-42. The decrease was due to a slightly lower grade of ore treated, lower mine output, and rises In costs, the directors report. Dividend, reduced from 2s a share to Is 9d a share, requires. £10,244 more than the profit. Taubmans, Ltd.,- reports net profit of £63,497 for the year ended September 30, compared with £60,365 for 1941-42. 'Ordinary dividend is steady at 10 per cent., requiring £39,886, and 5 per cent, preference dividend amounts to £5000. Transfer of £10,000 to contingency reserve is made, and carry-forward is increased to £34,243 from £25,632. Consolidated profit of the company and its subsidiaries is £62,813, against £70,046 last year.
