THE "SQUIRT" PASSES

PEOPLE RUSH TO SHELTER Rec 10.40 a.m. LONDON, Jan. 7. | When a jet-propelled fighter plane first flew over a district in the home counties many people rushed to shelter, thinking that a heavy bomb was screaming down, says the "Evening News." The mystery plane's arrival j was heralded by a distant screech which increased in volume until it resembled the sound of a giant whistling kettle. As the plane passed over the rumble of the powerful engine mingled with the whistle.- The "Squirt," as local people now call it, had in a very short time hurtled across the sky to become a distant speck which quickly disappeared.
