Rec.1.20 p.m. LONDON, January 5. Germany was combing the world for woollen goods to clothe her armies in Russia., but British interests stepped in and are outbidding Germany, cleaning up everything from Turkey, and proAxis Spain. This was disclosed by Sir Francis Joseph, in a speech at a meeting of the Association of British Chambers of Commerce. "Neutral countries wanted manufactures instead of cash for their goods," he added. "We managed to supply them and so to preserve their good ■will for Britain."
