BUILT IN AUSTRALIA

Rec. 12.15 p.m. MELBOURNE, Jan. 5. Australia is now able to produce the most modern types of heavy bomber, fighter-bomber, and fighter aircraft, said the Minister for Aircraft Production, Senator Cameron. "The deadly Beaufighter-will shortly be rolling off Australian production lines and several other new types of aircraft are in various stages of production. . These machines will give a terrible shock to the Japanese." The Minister said that more than 2500 aircraft had been manufactured in Australia since the beginning of the war and that production would ba speeded up considerably during 1944. More than 30 per cent, of the employees in the Australian aircraft industry were women.
