HATAITAI RESERVE

A motion moved by Councillor J. D. Sievwright urging that immediate steps be taken to recover possession of that part of the Hataitai Reserve now occupied for Government purposes was discussed at the last meeting of the Wellington City Council. Councillor R. L. Macalister, chairman of the Reserves Committee, read a reply from the authorities to the council's representations. This stated that the reserve would not be used any longer for its present purpose than was necessary, and that on being vacated the site would be restored to its original state. It was decided to take no further action provided that the authorities entered into a formal agreement on the lines of their reply.

Pleading guilty in the Magistrate's Court today to keeping beer for sale without being licensed to sell it, William Daniel Harman, 43, mechanic, was sentenced by Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., to one month's imprisonment.
