TWO MONTHS' RETURN
PATRIOTIC FUND BOARD
Returns submitted to a meeting of the National Patriotic ITund Board showed that during October and November 20,000 cases of -comforts of a total weight.of over 608 tons were shipped overseas to the New' Zealand Forces. They were consigned to the United Kingdom, Middle East, India, the forward area and base in the Pacific, and to New Zealand Forces on otner Pacific islands. } The goods included Naval gift parcels, Christmas tobacco parcels for detached units, gift parcels, cigarettes, tobacco,* woollen goods,. stationery, delicacies for the Maori Battalion, radio sets, sports gear, books, games, tea, cups and saucers, concert party equipment, hospital supplies, ice cream ingredients, cordials, pianos, and buffet supplies. In the two months ended November 30 payments from the board's general account amounted to £95,221 and inj -respect of sick' and wounded and prisoners of war £53,986, making a total of £149,207. Expenditure on the New Zealand Forces overseas totalled £41,602. Of the board's expending agents/ the V.M.C.A. was paid £8000, Salvation Army £5000, Church of England Miliitary Affairs Committee £400.0," and Air Force Relations £142. Expenditure in respect of sick and wounded and prisoners of war included an imprest of £33,952 for the Joint Council of the Order of St. John and Red Cross Society. The expenditure by the board on troops in New Zealand was approximately £2000. The administration expenses for the two months were v £427. . _^
