Smoker's Privileges.

A charge of smoking In a non-smok-ing railway carriage was made against two men in the Lower Hutt Court yesterday before Mr. W. C. Harley, S.M. The defendants pleaded guilty and were convicted and ordered to pay the costs. Commenting on the cases, Mr. Harley said he was of the opinion that non-smokers using smoking carriages should also be liable to a penalty. It was common knowledge that women and children packed into smoker carriages instead of troubling to find non-smoking cars, thus preventing smokers having the privilege of enjoying a smoke after their day's work.
