MR. H. LAWSON
Mr. Harry Lawson, a well-known member of the legal profession, died at his residence, Featherston, recently, after an illness of several months, aged 55 years. Trained in the office of Chapman, Skerrett, Tripp, and Blair, Wellington, he qualified as a solicitor just on the outbreak of the last war. Enlisting as a private, he served throughout the war and rose to the rank of lieutenant. On his return home in 1919 he Entered the office of Mr. J. W. Card, Featherston, and became a partner in September of that year, a connection which lasted up to the date of his death. Mr. Lawson was a foundation-mem-I ber and for a number of years chairj man of the Returned Services Association.. His services as president of the Wairarapa Automobile Association and Mutual Insurance Company secured him re-election on more than one occasion. He was treasurer of the Wairarapa Racing Club and a prominent member of the Featherston Bowling and Golf Clubs. There was a large attendance at the funeral. Requiem Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Father McGlohe, who officiated also at the graveside at the Soldiers' Cemetery. Mr. Lawson leaves a widow, two daughters, Misses Margaret and Janet Lawson, and one son, Alec, a student at St. Patrick's College. His eldest son, Sergeant Pilot John Lawson, was killed on active service last March.
