VILLAGE DESTROYED
CRASHED BOMBER BLOWS UP Rec. 1 p.m. LONDON, December 5. Only thre* civilians were injured when a Flying Fortress, the crew of which had baled out, crashed in the middle of the village of Deenethorpe, Northamptonshire, today. The(Fortress hit an empty cottage, and the blast from the explosion of its 60001b bombload was heard ten miles away. it damaged practically all the thirty-odd houses in the village and shattered windows for miles. Among the damaged houses was Deene Park, which is mentioned in Domesday Book.
