MR. A. J. BLAND

Mr. Arthur John Bland, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Bland, died in Lower Hutt yesterday, aged 61. Mr. Bland commenced his career as a cadet in the Railway Department at Dannevirke, and was finally employed in a position of trust in the head office, Wellington. During the .last war he served on the paymasters' staff at headquarters in London. He was a man of many hobbies, including art printing, photography, numismatics, and astronomy, and was a prominent member of the Wellington Shakespeare Society. The following brothers and sisters survive him:—Messrs. B. Bland, T. Bland, C. Bland (Wellington), Mesdames W. Bell (Otorohanga), M. Upton (Lower Hutt), M. Worgan, A. Heron, S. C. Sparrow, A. J. Slack, C. E. Singleton, and Miss Florence Bland, all of Wellington.
