SYDNEY, November 9. Japanese fighters used a phosphorus incendiary bomb in an effort to break Sunday's Allied bomber attack on Rabaul. These bombs are designed to burst into flaming particles which stick to any plane hit, setting it on fire. The enemy technique was to send his main fighter force to engage the escorting Allied fighters while a smaller force of bomb-carrying fighters attacked our bombers with the new pro-, jectiles. After dropping their bombs, these fighters attacked -with cannon and machine-guns.
