"HOSTESS CIRCLE"
CARE FOR SERVICE PERSONNEL Better organisation for the comfort and accommodation of New Zealand service men and women is promised by the formation of the Hostess Circle, decided upon at a meeting of women on Tuesday. Most of those who took part in the meeting are mothers of soldiers serving overseas, and they were unanimous in their conclusions. The Hostess Circle consists of women who have in the past done good service in offering hospitality to members of the forces. They said they now felt that the time had come for them, apart from acting as hostesses, to take ;an active part in forming a well-run [bureau to deal with all the problems of hospitality. It is felt that with good I organisation a great deal of assistance can be given when and where it is most needed, for all servicemen, whether they have returned from overseas or are doing duty in New Zealand. Many more hostesses are needed, and those who are willing to assist in any of the following ways are asked to contact Mrs. J. W. Innes, telephone 24-650, or write to her care of Box 1299, stating in,which capacity they are most able to assist: Hospitality for sick and j wounded; accommodation of next-of- • kin of dangerously ill, sick, and j wounded; day or evening hospitality for any members of the forces; overnight or weekend accommodation; accommodation of servicemen's wives as paying guests for a few days; accommodation as paying guests of servicemen who are on temporary transfer or holiday for a week or two. Acknowledgment will be made of all offers of help, and all hostesses will' become members of the circle. Methods of contacting the men to make known the desire to help them were discussed and agreed upon by the meeting.
