ENEMY DRIVEN BACK

CHUNGKING, October 5. Chinese forces in east China have reestablished their positions in the Hangchow-Nanking area along the southern banks of the Yangtze River with the recapture of Fanchang, 20 miles south-west of Wuhu. The Japanese have also suffered a setback in central China, where the Chinese have recaptured Jenkang, on the eastern shore of the Fu River. The Japanese suffered 800 casualties.
