COMMENT BY "ECONOMIST"
I Rec. 10.30 a.m. LONDON, Oct. 5. "The New Zealand election was reimarkable because the pendulum showed signs of swinging against the wartime Government, but this was due to the long time during which it has been in office far more than to its war policy," says the "Economist," commenting on the New Zealand General Election. "Indeed, its war policy has been endorsed by the fact that, though with a smaller majority, it won the election, and it is significant that in many constituencies the scales were tipped by the servicemen's votes, which were mostly cast in favour of the Government, which pledged itself to guarantee their post-war welfare."
