President Roosevelt, -in a message to the sixty-third annual convention of the American Federation of Labour, stated that he expected success in the Government's efforts "to stabilise and reduce the cost of living in essentials." He added that the battle of production was being won in every shipyard, machine shop, and factory. He declared: "You will bear with me the expectation and challenge that American labour will do more and more until victory is won and until peace is established.
"Increasing efforts to maintain the present production levels and increase them in some instances will be necessary." Working people, he said, will be asked to cpntinue to support the war effort by saving money, making sacrifices, and modifying their personal habits.—B.O.W.
