STATE OR PEOPLE?
Sir, —Electors of New Zealand have to make a fateful decision now. Do we or do we not want nationalisation of industry, land, and all enterprise? We have to realise that if we nationalise industry we nationalise ourselves, i.e., we all become servants of the State, nothing more, with the prospect of being man-powered into any undertaking or occupation whether we like it or not. We will have no opportunity of launching out for ourselves or of each following his individual bent or mode of living, except with the consent of the "powers that be" who may or may not be tolerant to our wishes. We would not dare to oppose those in authority. Nationalisation will make for a nation of "crawlers." each prostrating himself before the "Head of the State."—l am, etc., LIBERTY.
