PROBATION GRANTED

Arresied with 2£d in his possession, James Patrick Ngeru, labourer, 22 (Mr. G. I. Joseph), admitted in the Magistrate's Court today sevencharges of stealing money from a man whom he had been assisting in a billiards saloon. He was admitted to probation for two years by Mr. A. M- Goulding, S.M., and was ordered to make restitution of £41 10s, a further condition being that he accept work approved by the probation officer. Counsel said the main trouble was drink. The accused had spent the money in a very short period, not only on himself, but on others who found that he had a few pounds.
