"Luck of a Chinaman."
"The luck of a Chinaman," as a colloquial expression, had no mythical touch about it for an Ashburton Chinese resident who visited the Geraldine races at Orari on Saturday, states the Christchurch "Press." An investment which he made on the last race gave him the handsome return of £636. He was first in at the pay-out window; and when he observed the comparatively small heap of notes in front of the clerk he handed over his tickets, remarking nonchalantly: "You will have to get some more money."
