Rec. noon. LONDON, Sept 19. The Algiers correspondent of the British United Press says that the possession of Sardinia, which is now; in Italian hands, presents the Allies with an unsinkable aircraft-carrier within easy flying distance of the whole Axis-occupied coast from Salerno northwards to the Gulf of Genoa and then westwards across the Riviera to the Spanish border. It also brings the Allies 300 miles nearer France and provides a base for attack against Corsica. \
