Mr. T. O. Maddison, Independent candidate fpr Wellington South, advertised that he would hold a meeting in St. Hilda's Hall, Island Bay, at 8 o'clock last night. Ten minutes past the hour there were present at the meeting Mr, Maddison, three men who appeared to be friends of his, one reporter, and one man who identified himself as a supporter of Independents and offered to assist Mr. Maddison's candidature. About 8.20 p.m., when the reporter left, the supporter was addressing the four others on political questions, while the candidate gave him an attentive hearing.
