CREDIT UNION
FRIENDLY SOCIETY SCHEME In February of this year the first credit union in New Zealand was formed by the Wellington District Ancient Order of Foresters Friendly Society, and the preparatory work and. actual registration was completed a few days ago. This union follows upon the registration of the Manchester Unity Credit Union-, formed by Oddfellows. A third society has also been formed by the Independent Order of Oddfellows, to be known as the 1.0.0. F. Credit and Investment So- V ciety. At least three other societies are contemplating forming credit unions. The general public are also showing interest in the new scheme, and many inquiries have been made as to the operation of credit unions. The first board of management of the Foresters Credit Union comprises , Messrs. T. E. Hogarth, S. R. McCallum, I. G. Lythgoe, J. Fisher, L. J. Retallick, and R. J. W. Dalton ,as directors, together with Messrs. G. L. Earney, E. E. Stoupe, and E. E. Anset as trustees, while Mr. L. J. Retallick, F.C.C.S. (London), has been elected secretary-treasurer The headquarters will be in Wellington.
