MR. YORKE GRAY
Mr. Yorke Gray, manager of the Embassy Theatre for the J. C. Williamson Picture Cdrporation, and formerly a well-known performer in revue and vaudeville, died in Auckland on Tuesday. Mr. Gray, who was the son of Mrs. Annette Gray and a nephew of Mr. Henry Hayward, Auckland, had been associated with the stage ever since his youth, having served in the chorus with J. C. Williamson companies for a period. He also performed in revue and vaudeville, as juvenile lead in sketches, and as a female impersonator, with a special flair for wearing beautiful and daring gowns. His wife was Miss Daisy Yates, solo dancer and sketch artist. The two were associated with the Walter George Revue Company for a -time, and were also employed by the Fuller management for some years. When ■that form of entertainment faded out, Mr. Gray took up theatre management, at first in the Tudor Theatre, Remuera. and later in the Regent Theatre, Wellington. When the Embassy Theatre was erected in Wellesley Street, Auckland, Mr. Gray became manager, a position he retained to the time of his death. He leaves a widow but no family.
