THIRTY-FOURTH BIRTHDAY
The thirty-fourth birthday of the Pioneer Club was celebrated at a rei ception for members on Saturday afternoon in the club rooms. The preisident, Miss Kane, welcomed the I members and several new members. Telegrams of. greetings, also birthday I gifts, were received. The club rooms looked very attractive with bowls of i flowers which had been arranged by I Miss Cooper. Mrs. H. D. Vickery was jin charge of the programme, which inieluded items .by Mesdames Sewell, i Vickery, A. F. Downer, C. S. Eastwood, M. J. Goodson, J. Smythe, and Miss L. Andex-son. The house commit- ! tee served afternoon tea. LECTURE AND DISCUSSION. The series of lecture-discussions | planned by the Y.W.C.A. is attracting a number of people. Each lecturer views the subject. "The World We Want to Live In," from a different angle and the questions and discussion which follow are very helpful. Mr. George Lawn, M.A., will be the speaker on Thursday evening, and he will speak from the point of view of an economist.
