RECORD OF BLITZ
RAID PILED UPON RAID
Rec. 11 a.m. LONDON. August 3. The British United Press aviation writer says that Hamburg is being wiped off the map. Approximately 10,000 tons of bombs have been dropped on the city since July 24.
The record of the raids is:—On the night of July 24 the R.A.F. dropped 2300 tons; on July 25 in a day raid Flying Fortresses made a major attack; on the night of July 25 Mosquitoes were over the city; on July 26 Flying Fortresses made another daylight attack; on July 26 there was a night raid by Mosquitoes; on the night of July 27 more than 2300 tons of bombs were dropped by the R.A.F.; on the night of July 28 Mosquitoes attacked; on the night of July 29 the R.A.F. dropped 2300 tons; on the night of August 2 the R.A.F. dropped about 1500 tons. •
The Luftwaffe dropped only 7000 tons on London during the ten months of the blitz period in 1940-41. The largest amount dropped on any one night then wun 450 tons.
