DEEP INTO GERMANY
AMERICAN DAY RAIDERS LONDON, July 28. Heavy of the Eighth Air Force attacked targets in central Germany, while medium bombers attacked industrial targets in Belgium today, according to United States Army Headquarters. . The bombing results of the American raid deep into Germany are reported to have been good. The For^ tresses went further inland into Germany > than ever before, and came up against the strongest fighter opposition ever met. They.shot down 60 enemy machines, and American Thunderbolts who escorted them shot down nine others. This, with the damage done at the aircraft factories, made it a bad day for the Luftwaffe. I
