BOYS COME HOME
CROSS CREEK WELCOME!
Following the delicious morning tea provided by the residents of Cross Creek, a dance was held by the social club's committee to welcome back home three -of the 24 boys who left the district for overseas. The three were Sergeant T. A. A. H..Crack, Lance-Cor-poral L. Ruddy, and Sapper O. Reid, all of whom have been members of the railway depot at Cross Creek. Speeches were made, by Mrs. Seager, a wellknown resident, arid Mr. Stockley, Mr. Lechner, and Mr. B.atchelor, of the locomotive depot, and Captain Cody and Mr. Clarke. The hall was beautifully decorated with ferns gathered by the children from native bush nearby, and with bunting and flags. Supper was served and music was supplied by local residents. Community singing was carried on between the dances, and Mr. Seager and Mrs. Ruddy gave solos.
