RAIDS OVER FRANCE
GOOD BOMBING RESULTS
Rec. 11.15 a.m. RUGBY, July 14. ' It is officially announced: "Strong formations of heavy bombers of the American Army Eighth Air Force and formations of R.A.F. fighter-bombers and light bombers attacked German aircraft installations in France today. Flying Fortresses bombed aircraft repair and assembly plants at Villacoublay, the aircraft factory and park at Le Bourget, and the airfield at Amiens-Gliscy. The bombing results were good at all three targets. Fighter opposition was encountered, particularly by the formations attacking Le Bourget and Villacoublay." Over 15 enemy fighters are claimed to have been destroyed by the Fortresses. Typhoons attacked the airfield at Abbeville and Triqueville. R.A.F. and Dominion flyers destroyed 1 three Focke-Wulf 190's, and Thunder- . bolts which escorted a Fortress over its target destroyed three other FockeWulf 190's. Eight bombers and lour fighters are missing. A Coastal Command Beaufighter shot down a He.lll over the North Sea today. The enemy aircraft was last seen diving into the sea and breaking into bits as it went down.— 8.0. W.
