ACCIDENT WITH REVOLVER
Through the accidental discharge of a revolver early this morning, Mr. P. Downey, labourer1, Grand National Hotel, Petone, received a wound in the right arm, and another man is understood to have received from the same bullet a wound that did not require hospital attention. Mr. Downey was taken by the Free Ambulance from the Petone police station to hospital at about 2.45 a.m.
"We New Zealanders in this prison camp send to the members of the New Zealand Patriotic Fund Board and your helpers our thanks and best wishes for the parcels we have received through you and from you," states a note received from a New Zealand prisoner of war in Germany. "Best of luck to you, New Zealand," the note adds. "May you and your souls be protected until we members of your forces return to you, our friends, and our families.
