SPELLS DOOM FOR AXIS
Rec. 12.30 p.m. TORONTO, July 8. "We will shortly see gigantic battles in which unheard-of quantities of war materials will be consumed," said Mr. Donald Nelson, chairman of the U.S. War Production Board, when addressing a Canadian club. Despite the serious eftects ot spasmodic strikes and riots on war production, Mr. Nelson warned the enemy not to take too much comfort from the so-called sagging on the United States, home front. He added that in the first five months of 1943 only .7 of: 1" per cent, of production was delayed by strikes. .' ' ■•■' All the United Nations this year would make three times the Axis output of arms, and next year the United Nations would quadruple Axis production. "These figures speak to the world in a big voice," Mr. Nelson said. "If the Nazi and Japanese war lords are not completely insane they will recognise that it is the voice of doom."
