NEW BOMBING MISSIONS

A Uni-ted States Navy Department communiqife states: "Yesterday medium bombers, escorted by Lightnings, attacked anti-aircraft positions on Munda. Later* in the afternoon, torpedo planes and dive-bombers attacked Japanese installations on Nauru Island. Fourteen defending Zeros were in the air, but only four appeared willing to press home an attack. Two were damaged. The results of the attack were not observed. All the United States planes returned. "On Friday medium and heavy bombers attacked Japanese installations on Kiska eight times, hits being observed on the anti-aircraft position in the Gertrude camp area and North Head sections.
"Yesterday, heavy bombers attacked the central bivouac area on'Kiska, but weather conditions prevented observation of the results."—B.O.W.
