NORTH ISLAND TOUR
P.A. NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day. One of the most spontaneous and enthusiastic demonstrations ever seen in New Plymouth; took place today at a civic reception to General Sir Bernard Freyberg. As early as 7.30 this morning people began to congregate for the reception, which took place in the Opera House at 9 o'clock.
In rus reply to speeches x of welcome | General Freyberg made special reference to the brilliant exploits of the Maori Battalion, and in a tribute to the late Lieutenant Ngarimu, V.C., he said the citation in his case was one of the finest ever made for an award of the Victoria Cross. General Freyberg left shortly after 10 o'clock by rail-car for Wanganui
