OBITUARY

MR. C. STANLEY SMITH

A Press Association message from Dunedin announces the death of Mr. C. Stanley Smith, managing director of the Dunedin "Evening Star," and a well-known figure in the New Zealand newspaper world for many years For 31 years he was on the board of directors of the New Zealand Press Association, and on three occasions he was chairman—in 1921, 1925, and 1934. He retired from the board in 1941. and his place was taken by his son, Mr. S. D. Smith.
