PRICE OF APPLES

Slightly increased maximum price for some .varieties of apples are ; permitted under the latest aniendmeht to the Apple Price Order. These retail changes are consequent on increases of from 6d to Is 6d a bushel case in wholesale prices' for certain varieties, and they reflect the normal seasonal variations in the price of apples. The maximum retail prices, per lb, according to count, are now as follows:— Jonathan, 2£d to 3d; Frimley Beauty and Rome Beauty, 2Jd to 4d; Dougherty, 2Jd to 4d; Delicious, 4d to 4|d; Golden Delicious .^a to 5Jd; Winesan, 4d to 4Jd; Granny Smith, 3Jd to 4d; Stunners 2|d to 3£d;' Washington Lord Wolseley,'an"d Ballai-at, 2|d to.4d; other apples 2Jd:. to .3ld. In the wholesale prices there is ,an increase of 6d a. case .for Frimley Beauty,.
