CAGLIARI RAIDED
PORT IN SARDINIA*
LONDON, July 2
The weight of the R.A.F. attack in the Mediterranean in the last 36 hours has fallen on Sardinia, where the port of Cagliari has been raided. It was attacked by Wellingtons on Wednesday night, many 40001b bombs being dropped. All the Wellingtons returned.' During patrols yesterday, four German fighters were shot down off the North African coast. Fighter-bombers from Malta raided an v airfield in Sicily. Military governors have been appointed for Pantelleria and Lampedusa.. Both are airmen—a Briton for Lampedusa and an American for Pantelleria.
