An American navy communique, according to a Washington says that early yesterday afternoon divebombers attacked the Japanese defensive positions on Lambeti plantation at Munda, in New Georgia. Fires were started. ' '.. * The same afternoon a formation of torpedo-bombers and dive-borribers attacked Japanese defensive positions in the camp section at Vila, on Kolambahgra Island. Seven pilots from the 17 American planes previously reported missing Were rescued. Lambeti plantation is several miles east of the airfield at Munda. According to a news agency message the Japanese plane losses so far, which have risen to 123, \ indicate that the number of Japanese planes used during the Rendova landing was substantially larger than the 110 initially reported in the communid.ue.-*-8.0.W.
