AXIS AND THE ALLIES

RUGBY, July 2.

The Axis has lost at least 62,000 planes since the outbreak of war— nearly twice the, number lost by all the Allies. The Air Ministry tonight announced that 18,031 enemy -a'r "* :re destroyed up to the end* , sgainst our losses of 9906. Nine hundred and eighty-five Axis planes have been announced as destroyed by the Royal Navy, but this figure is incomplete. In a survey on June 22 covering two years of war, the Russians claimed the destruction of 43,000 enemy* . planes, against Soviet losses of 23,000.
