CHIVALROUS SOLDIERS Sir—The tribute paid to^our, soldiers in your sub-leader of Friday's "Post" reminds me of an incident.in. similar reference to our boysiof 1914-; 18 In 1930 I was travelling some distance by motor-bus in the France: my neighbour and I became: friendly* and we chatted as we enjoyed the scenery. He spoke good English and fluently, but with the pecu-: liar touches which a foreigner gives. We got further afield m our talk, and when he discovered that I was a New Zealander he looked at me with increased interest. -His eyes shone, with great feeling, arifi, giving one. of our expressive words a very quaint setting, he said: "Ah . . . Your men! . . . they were very beautiful in the war. 1 He had beeji a captain in the Belgian army.—l am, etc., W. H. DENTON.
