Social Afternoon on Thursday, at 2.30. ___ "FOR MANY DECEIVERS AM ENTERED INTO THE WORLD WHO CONFESS NOT THAT JESUS CHRIST IS COME IN THE FLESH." (3 John 7.) BEFORE anyono can confess that Jesus Christ camo In tho flesh ho must understand what the Scriptures teach concerning "tho flesh." Before tho fall of man the flesh was "very good" (Gen. 1:31), but It is Clear from the scriptures.that after tho fall and as a result of the "ilylng thou shalt die" sentenco I (Gen. 2:17) Adam was physically defiled —he no longer possessed a "very good" body but a "vile body" (Phil. 3:21), a "corruptible" body (1 Cor. 15:53), a "body of sin" (Roms. 6:6), even "flesh in which dwelleth no Bood thing" (Roms. 7:18), fiesh that "proflteth nothing" (John G:G3). It is this "flosh" even "sinful human nature" (Roms. 8:3 Wcymouth) that i 3 primarily THE DEVIL of the Bible (Hob. i 2:14). All tho descendants of Adam inherit his defiled physical body (Roms. 5:12, John 3:6, 1 Pet. 1:4, Job 14:4) and as Jesus Christ was a descendant of Adam through Mary He likewise "camo in tho flesh" even that same defiled physical body as all other descendants of Adam (2 John 7, 1 John 4:3, Boms. 1:3, Roms. 8:3, Hebs. 2:14-16, 2 Cor. 5:21). But though Jesus Chr.lst possessed a "body like that of sinful human nature" Ho, personally "did no sin," His character was holy and unblemished (1 Pet. 2:22, 1 Pet. 1:19). Yet, "it pleased God to bruise Christ" (Isa. 53:10) in order that God could declaro His righteousness in the condemnation of sin in tho flesh— it was as though it was proclaimed to all the World when Christ's body was nailed to tho cross: "This is how condemned human nature should be treated according to the righteousness of God; it is- fit only for destruction" (Roms. 8:3, Roms. 3:25). Thus the Scriptures teach that through Christ's death "the devil," i.e., His "body of sin," was destroyed' (Hebs. 2:14) and the process of "taking away the sin of tho World" begun (John 1:29). Reader, you will realise that it is of no value as a matter of words to confoss that Jesus Christ came in the flesh if you do not correctly understand Bible teaching concerning "the flesh." As a help to that end you should read tho book , . "CHRISTENDOM ASTRAY." A copy of the book, together with other Chrlstadelphian Literature relatlug to the fore- j going, will be sent free on application to "BIBLE ■ TRUTH," Bos 71, Wellington. __ ] OSPJSL HALL, Vivian St.-—Sunday, July. 4. 3 p.m., Bible Class.
