America "has wrought a miracle following Pearl Harbour, and now has the most powerful fleet in the world in commission, declared Colonel Frank Rnox, Secretary of the Navy. He added that by the end of the year the fleet will have increased 60 per cent, by tonnage and 100 per cent, by numbers over 1942.
He asserted that the Japanese were halted and were now digging in frantically to hold the fruits of their victories. "We have now seized the initiative, he said. ■
