RUSSIAN GUERRILLAS
HELP BY RED FORCES
Rec. 1,15 p.m. LONDON, July 1. The Russians along the whole front are taking advantage of the lull to give material assistance to guerrillas, help them to strengthen their resistance, and increase the value of their support behind the front.
Reuters Moscow correspondent says that the Red Air Force has established and is maintaining a strong link between the front line and the shadow guerrilla' line behind" the German front. A regular, shuttle service is running between Red Army centres and the headquarters of the guerrilla units in the Smolensk, Orel, Gomel, Kiev, and other regions. The Germans lately have been trying determinedly to exterminate the guerrillas, but the experienced fighters are outwitting the enemy's attempts. '"Red Army planes have evacuated to safety in the Russian rear thousands of young orphans from areas held: by guerrillas. Several. million Russian children at this time of the year are in farm scout camps, where they help to bring in the harvest, the prospects of which so far are good. A million persons are cultivating ; "victory" allotments in Moscow alone. .
: The Reuter correspondent adds that, except for reports, of scouting and desultory artillery duels, the only news of land action comes- from the Kuban, where Russian marines near Novorossisk are constantly harrying the Germans. One -small marine sniper unit in the past fortnight has killed more than. 500 Germans. ,
