MENINGITIS AT AUCKLAND
P.A. AUCKLAND, June 28. Though the number of cases has not reached the epidemic proportions of last June, when there were 25 positive cases, cerebro-spinal meningitis is prevalent in the Auckland central health district. The Medical Officer of Health, Dr. T. J. Hughes, said that since the beginning of the month 14 positive cases had been reported in the district, which extended from Rodney County to Mercer.
A new hut has been provided for patriotic parcel packers on the grounds of the Star Boating Club, Wellington. Reporting to yesterday's meeting of the Metropolitan Patriotic Committee, the honorary secretary, Mr. V. Ward, said that an Army hut had been delivered on the site. It measured 45ft by 24ft, and had been brought to Wellington by the Railway Department without charge and had been reerected free of cost by the Love Construction .Company, which had been extremely* helpfiuVorb severaL occasions.
