NEW PETROL COUPONS

CURRENT SERIES REPLACED

The Oil Fuel Controller stated today that the petrol coupons numbered 28 to 36 inclusive of the sets that have been on issue for the motor-vehicle licensing years 1941-42 and 1942-43 will no longer be valid at the end of this month.

Owing to the possibility of the old series of coupons being confused with the new series motorists are requested to destroy the old series of coupons. The new sets of coupons that are being issued to owners of motor vehicles as they are being relicensed for 1943-44 will be redeemable after the end of the present month commencing with number 1, subject, of course, to the continuance of allowances for private owners on the usual basis.

The new coupons are of slightly different design, the main new features being that the number of each coupon is printed in both figures and words.

The printing of the numbers in words has been adopted with a view to making it more difficult for dis-honestly-inclined persons to alter the numbers.on. void coupons so as to make them available at a later date.
