TOTAL £18,429,426
BIG PARADE BY AIR FORCE
With less than two weeks to go, the amount subscribed to the Third Liberty Loan of £35,000,000 now totals £18,429,426, leaving a balance of £16,570,574 to get if the loan is to be successful. Yesterday's subscriptions were £951,510. Wellington city has £2,238,490 of its quota of £3,500,000 in hand, and the postal area figures now total £2,658,088. Yesterday's subscriptions totalled £109,557 and £86,600 respectively. Tomorrow's Air Force parade, apart from marching personnel, will include almost a quarter of a mile of Air Force vehicles, exhibiting the various most interesting phases of technical equipment. The public will be interested in the exhibition of this equipment, and arrangements have been made for the vehicles to be parked at Liberty Corner, where the equipment will be on view from approximately 1.30 p.m. until 4.30 p.m. "The parade will pass through, the, city at midday, proceeding from Bunny Street, through Lambton Quay, Willis Street, Manners Street, and Courtenay Place, to Cambridge Terrace. ' MORE INVESTMENTS. The Victoria College Students' Association has invested £400 in Stock, Avhile the Weir House hostel students have put £10, representing half their social i unds> into Bonds. Investments not previously acknowledged include: Third Party Motor Pool, £50,000; Johnston and Company, Ltd., and the Johnston family, £14,000: Murray, Roberts, and Co., Ltd., and Sharland and Co., Ltd., each £10,000; Hutt Valley Power Board, £7500; John Duthie and Co., Ltd., British General Electric Companj% Ltd., T. and W. Young, Ltd,, Truth (N.Z.), Ltd., Associated Motorists' Petrol Co., Ltd., Todd Motors, Ltd.. each £5000; W. and T. Avery (N.Z.), Ltd., Stewarts and Lloyds of N.Z., Ltd., each £3000; J. Chambers and Co., Ltd., £2000: Associated Motorists' jtTovident Association, £1400: S.K.F. Ball Bearing Co. (N.Z.). Ltd., J. W. Wallace and Co.. Ltd., S. W. Peterson and Co., Ltd., Direct Cash Orders. Ltd., Wellington Branch of General Labourers' Union. Dominion Sportsmen's Association, each £1000; Todd Motors Provident Association, £600; Upper Hutt Borough Council, £500. In addition to the chief post office and other post offices there are Wellington city selling booths in the premises of Kirkcaldie and Stains, the D.1.C., Whitcombe and Tombs, Woolworths (Cuba and Willis Streets), James Smith's, Todd Motors, Selfridges, Kenner's, and Liberty Corner.
COUNCIL INVESTS £186,000 *■ Pursuant to an earlier resolution of the City' Council, the City Treasury has investigated the various renewal, sinking, and other corporation funds from, which moneys may be invested, and has built up a total of £186,850 to be invested in the Third Liberty Loan. This makes the grand total invested in the three Liberty Loans £401,939, stated the Mayor, Mr. Hislop, today.
