Rec. 12.30 p.m. RUGBY, June 27 The United States Navy Department reports that in the South Pacific on June 26 a formation of Liberators attacked the Japanese positions on Ballale Island, in the Shortland area. A number of fires was started. At the same time another formation of Liberators attacked the Japanese positions south of, Shortland Island. The results were not observed. Later, dive-bombers, escorted by fighters, attacked Vila on Kulambangra. Island. No planes were lost.—B.O.W.
